Be sure to plan in advance for the time required for materials to reach the Law Library from distant locations.
Verify that the material sought is not available at SMU libraries. A search on PONI, SMU’s online public catalog, will display holdings in all of the SMU library collections, including E-books and selected electronic databases. For articles, be sure to check SMU Online Resources, which lists full text periodical databases available to SMU-affiliated patrons.
Click on https://www.smu.edu/cul/ill/ILLiadindex.html. If you have not previously registered with the ILLiad automated interlibrary loan system, you will need to register by clicking on First Time User Registration. For your user name, please use your 8-digit SMU User ID.
Law review students seeking materials for cite-checking purposes should first consult Underwood Law Library’s Cite-Checking Guides, SMU Law Review and Computer Law Associations or International Law Cite-Checking Guide. If the material cannot be obtained either from the author or from the sources listed on the Guidance document, cite-checkers should then contact the designated law review committee member who is registered for the interlibrary loan system, ILLiad, to make a request for interlibrary loan.
Note for Non-SMU Affiliated Patrons: SMU Underwood Law Library does not participate in TexShare and does not permit borrowing by students or faculty of non-SMU libraries through the TexShare program.
Please contact Laura Justiss, Reference Librarian, if you have any questions or need additional information.
